Keys To A Successful Online Business – Part 1

What’s your reaction when your phone rings and it’s a sales call?  How do you respond to the email you receive from someone you don’t know who is trying to sell you their product or service?  Have you ever been at a conference or seminar and all the person you just met talks about is why you should buy their product? When you go shopping which shop are you most likely to go back to and buy from again?  If you are going to do business with someone what kind of person do you want to do business with?

If you are like me, you’re not really interested in buying a product or service from some you don’t even know.  You’d rather buy from someone that a friend or colleague recommended, right?  If you are like me, the shop you will return to is the shop where you get a good service, right?  If you are like me, you want to tell the person you just met at the conference, where to go and the quickest route there, right? And if you are like me, you want to do business with someone who is credible and who you can trust.

People don’t want products or services thrust in front of their faces by someone they don’t know and haven’t built a relationship with.  Gone are the old days of sales tactics of getting your foot in the front door. People are more informed nowadays have more choice and they won’t put up with old sales tactics.

Well, it’s no different with your online business – in fact, it’s even more relevant with an online business.  People want to deal with you because they trust you, you give a good service and you have something of value to offer them.

The 4+1 Keys To Online Success

I’m going to share 4 + 1 Keys To Success with you, that if you do, will guarantee you getting customers who want to buy from you.

Building Relationships is the first key to your online success.  It’s a fact. People like doing business with people they connect with and get on well with.  And think about it, who do you want to do business with – pain in the arse customers or customers you like?

Building relationships online has never been easier and I would get started with this as soon as you can.  Don’t wait until you have a product to start building relationships. You need to have built good relationships, so that when you do have a product you already have a following who like you and therefore are more likely to buy from you.

Tips On Getting Started (and it’s free):

Now I’m not a techie but have been amazed at how I have built a network of followers just through these two social network sites – without much effort.  I belong to other sites as well, but for now, just get started with these two.

The effort involved is signing up and learning how to get your profile set up. If you have a bit of a knack with the techie side of life, this will be dead easy for you.  E!ven if you don’t it’s farily straight-forward.  If you have any problems, let me know

With Twitter you are only allowed to write 140 characters (not words) – it’s a great way to learn to be concise.  Simply let people get to know who you are.  Post some quotes you like, share some things you enjoy doing, comment on others posts that resonate with you.  You’ll be surprised how your following grows on it’s on.  As you get more advanced there are techniques you can use to get more followers but for now KISS – keep it simple silly!

Facebook involves a bit more work but as you will find out later when you have a product to sell, the small effort will have been well worth it.

A little caution about Facebook.  You may not want everyone to be your friend and see all your photos your friends took when you were completely off your trolly at that last party (you’ve heard the stories of people not getting jobs once their potential employers saw their facebook profile).

What you can do , however, is to create a fan page that people can join.  You then can communicate whatever you want with your fans, without them having access to what goes on in your private parties.

One Final Tip:

Make sure you link your twitter account with your facebook account.  That means every time you twitter, it goes straight to your facebook profile , so you don’t have to do it twice.

Even if you don’t “get it” or it seems odd or you’ve never been the kind of person to relate to others online– just do it.

You are here to learn and this is what successful internet marketers do, so why shouldn’t you?
